Review: Hivision PWS700A $100 Android netbook

Android is the tip open source OS, that could ultimately deliver real budget netbook-style devices – we’re talking about $ 100, not more than $ 200 – and HiVision just the thing at CES 2010 earlier this month . More on ARM devices, has been reviewing the Charbax PWS700CA HiVision, a 7-inch netbook based on a 600MHz ARM926 processor viable that could come in under $ 100 for consumers.

Despite the low Rockchip RK2808 processor power, capacity PWS700CA still 720p, but also has WiFi, Ethernet, audio in / out, USB 2.0, 128MB of RAM, and weighs only 650g. You may not want to do everyday tasks on the WVGA screen, but to use round about there are plenty of appeal.

Info: Nokia N900 Android dual-boot hack

Nokia N900 a smartphone is undoubtedly tempting, but the operating system is running Maemo 5 that still appears as an enthusiast platform, rather than a consumer and ready. Fortunately, an enthusiastic and decided to play with the ARM-based N900 itself, and the end result is a device that can dual boot both Maemo and Android.

Brandon Roberts is the man responsible for the wonderful dual boot, and while being described rather as a proof of concept at this point that a viable solution, what little is shown in the video that has been a decent way. The keyboard seems to work, and the screen is running with a WVGA resolution of the N900, a boot menu lets you choose between Maemo and Android.

Info: Android-powered 7-inch Netbook spotted at CES 2010

Android is, literally, everywhere. I would not be surprised to see it displayed in a glass of water coming. Anyway, this netbook GL-750 was seen at CES 2010 that runs Google’s Android operating system. It comes from the Taiwanese computer maker Yung King.

You get a 533 Freescale iMX31 based ARM11 processor with 128 MB of RAM and up to 16GB of flash storage. Apart from Android, you can also get Windows CE or a lightweight Linux distribution based on a kernel 2.6.x
