HP and many other electronics companies are trying hard to reach people like my wife who don’t buy electronics and computers based on specifications, but buy them based on looks. My wife would take a mediocre camera if it’s pink over a fantastic black camera. Most of her girly friends would do the same. For this crowd, HP has unveiled its latest product designed by Vivienne Tam.

The new machine is the basic HP Mini 210 adorned with a “Butterfly Lovers” design and gold color that goes along with Tam’s latest collection of clothing. Other than the gold color, which extends to the keyboard and other surfaces of the netbook and a wireless mouse, the rig is the basic Mini 210.

If you are the sort that cares about looks and specs, the hardware inside is as follows. The machine runs an Intel Atom N450 CPU and has 2GB of RAM. The screen is a 10.1-inch BrightView Infinity Widescreen unit and the keyboard is 93% of full-size. The golden hued 3-cell battery promises up to 5.5 hours of use per charge and the butterfly decorated mouse is an option. The netbook is slated as “coming soon” by HP for about $600. That is a lot of coin for a netbook even if you are a “Butterfly Lover.”

Back in January when CES was going we first heard of the new Lenovo Y460 and Y560 notebooks. Both of the machines were detailed and we had a bit of pricing info. Lenovo was mum on a specific launch date at the time only saying in March.

If you have been waiting for the new IdeaPad Y460 to land so you could grab one up, this is the day. The IdeaPad Y460 is now available on the Lenovo website in two pre-configured versions. The first is the Y460 063347U in black with a Core i3-330M processor, Intel HD graphics, 4GB of RAM, 14-inch HD LED backlit screen, 320GB of storage, Bluetooth, WiFi and more. This version sells for $999.

The Y460 063346U is also available starting at $1,199. It runs a Core i5-520M processor, ATI Radeon HD 5650 graphics with 1GB of VRAM, 4GB of RAM, 14-inch HD LED backlit screen, WiFi, Bluetooth and more. Both machines have DVD burners and run Windows Home 7 Premium 64-bit. There are no hardware options offered, just software and other accessories in the customization menus.

HP Spain have announced a new smartbook, the Compaq Airlife 100, a netbook with stylish form factor, 10.1-inch touch screen and integrated 3G. While HP does not spill the beans on the chipset 100, Airlife, last we heard they were playing with Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon, it seems a reasonable assumption.

Elsewhere there is a 16GB SSD with WiFi and 3G connectivity, while HP also have the long legs smartbook is frugal enough to last 12 hours on one charge. Another possibility is the point of waiting 10 days.

From the photos, it is obvious that there is a webcam and an SD card slot, along with some useful shortcut keys around the trackpad, HP also has loaded its own user interface touchscreen. According to the company, the Compaq Airlife 100 will hit Europe this spring, as a grant agreement with the telephone company. Not a word of a U.S. launch or any other pricing information.

Last year Dell pulled the wraps off a dead sexy V13 Vostro laptops aimed at business users that looked like the Adamo with a slim profile, but packed with a price similar to a netbook. Dell has introduced a new computer for business users that looks much like the V13 called Latitude 13.

As you can guess by the name of the product, the notebook has a 13-inch screen. Dell calls the machine the world’s thinnest 13-inch laptop commercial customer. The machine differs somewhat in the style of the V13 Vostro and packages in some pre-installed software centric business.

The machine ships with a Citrix client installed making it ready for virtualization right of the box. Other features include WiFi, WWAN options, and an optional Blu-ray external. The machine lacks an internal optical drive. CPU options and pricing are unknown at this time, but I would not expect it to be too out of line with the price of U.S. $ 450 for the Vostro V13.
