Lenovo calls raised some eyebrows when he presented what is basically a CULVER ultraportable ThinkPad range in the new X100e, leading to all sorts of questions about whether an AMD Athlon Neo could satisfy the business segment. More Netbook that have been reviewing the single-core 1.6GHz ThinkPad X100e, and while the physical design should not cause too many sleepless nights for a long time lovers of Lenovo, the performance leaves much to be desired.

The keyboard and trackpad are apparently “the best” reviewer Peter Cartwright has been used in a machine of 11.6 inches, and the matte screen, Lenovo also earns points. The AMD can not be a power, but good enough for 1080p playback, but no HDMI output for easy connection of a large screen TV.

Performance is not the only problem, the 6-cell battery is great, but only get 3-4 hours of run time, the bottom of the X100e’s very hot and, in general - at least until dual-core Athlon and Athlon arrive later in 2010 - nothing better than a conventional netbook. From U.S. $ 449 we’re not entirely convinced, but frequent Typers X100e probably should give a look.

Lenovo, the company behind the rock-solid Thinkpad laptop line (one personal favorite of at least one staff member Switched) has revealed (intentionally or not) a boatload of new equipment before CES this week’s festivities. We’ve seen a couple of Thinkpad unusually bright, and the netbook X100e business class, but for now the most interesting is the hybrid IdeaPad U1.

At first sight, it seems too different from the other entries in the alignment of IdeaPad notebooks – has a 11.6 inch screen, Core 2 Duo Culver and 4 GB of RAM for every day life of the battery and enough power for light photo editing in addition to Windows 7 and a 128GB SSD. But when you pop the screen of your home, becomes a multi-touch tablet running Linux in a Snapdragon processor (the same type found in the new Nexus One of Google) and a 16GB SSD storage most essential data.

The hybrid U1 will not be available until June, and will start at $ 999. We will be sure to get some hands-on time with this mashup only time he opens the floor at CES.
